Kory J. Cook is a Texas native who grew up in Grapevine, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received his undergraduate BA degree in History. His love of the outdoors and the mountains, in particular, motivated him to move to Wyoming to attend graduate school.
Prior to law school, while establishing his Wyoming residency, Kory worked as a ski-lift operator at Snowy Range Ski Area seasonally and continued to do so part-time while attending law school. In the summer, he volunteered for the Wyoming Conservation Corps where he could enjoy working outdoors while gaining diverse and hands-on experience in natural resource and environmental management.
Kory received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Wyoming College of Law and is a member of the Colorado Bar. During law school, Kory participated in a wide range of on-the-job legal work that afforded him the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with clients and in court. He spent time working with multiple ADAs on various criminal prosecutions both in the office and courtroom. He also had the opportunity to work with the City Attorney to resolve civil and employment legal issues. One of his interesting work experiences was working for the University of Wyoming Department of Compliance in the Athletic Department ensuring that the University was in compliance with NCAA regulations. All of these out-of-classroom experiences have provided Kory with the day-to-day practicalities of practicing law and working with clients. It has affirmed for Kory that he made the right decision to become an attorney and it has honed his commitment to his chosen profession of practicing law.
Kory enjoys the fast-paced challenge of landlord law and enjoys working with the Firm’s diverse client base. Kory loves living in Colorado where he can indulge his interests in hiking, backpacking, cycling, and snowboarding. In addition to enjoying all things outdoors, Kory is an enthusiastic practitioner of the culinary arts and loves to cook.
